Evans Bailey MD

Dr. Bailey grew up in Birmingham, Alabama and attended Wheaton College for his undergraduate studies. He returned to Birmingham and completed his MD and PhD degrees and an internship in internal medicine at the University of Alabama in Birmingham (UAB).

Dr. Bailey completed his residency in Dermatology at the University of Michigan, where he was Chief Resident. After residency, Dr. Bailey completed his fellowship in Procedural Dermatology at Michigan and remained on faculty in the Department of Dermatology at the University of Michigan.

As a faculty member at the University of Michigan, Dr. Bailey is an attending physician in the University of Michigan Multidisciplinary Melanoma clinic, one of the largest melanoma clinics in the United States. In addition, Dr. Bailey is an attending in the Merkel cell carcinoma clinic, where he participates in clinical trials to establish better treatment regimens for Merkel cell carcinoma, dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans and other rare skin cancers.

 

At the University of Michigan, Dr. Bailey is also an attending laser surgeon in the Cosmetic Dermatology and Laser Center and the C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital. Dr. Bailey has extensive experience in a wide range of laser and light based therapies.

Dr. Bailey has published numerous articles on the genetic basis of the most common skin cancer, basal cell carcinoma, as well as the use of light and laser therapies for acne, and on the use of phototherapy for a variety of skin conditions.

Dr. Bailey is Board Certified by the American Academy of Dermatology and is a Fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery and a member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. He will be relocating to Birmingham in July 2010 with his wife and 5 children. His hobbies include gardening and cooking.
