Blepharoplasty
Restore a Natural Well-Rested Appearance to the Eye
Blepharoplasty is an operation designed to remove excess skin on the upper eyelids and to restore a more natural well-rested appearance to the eye. It is an ideal way to eliminate the tired, puffy look around your eyes. Before the procedure, it is important to establish other causes that may be leading to drooping of the upper eyelid. We will obtain visual fields to document if the redundancy of the upper eyelid impedes your visual fields.
When this is the case, your insurance provider or Medicare often reimburses the procedure. At your consultation we will discuss the surgical procedure in detail as well as expected results and potential complications. Blepharoplasty is a very safe procedure and thousands are performed successfully each year.
Blepharoplasty of the upper eyelids involves an incision in the upper eyelid crease and removing some redundant periorbital fat and a small amount of skin. Care is taken to not make the eyelids excessively tight or hollow appearing. The ideal blepharoplasty is a natural appearing, well-rested, youthful eye. Lower lid blepharoplasty is often performed to remove excess lower lid periorbital fat (bags) underneath the eye.
